moving apartments

ah. now that the move is over with... back to somewhat normal life

some lessons learned:
- call movers. period
- figure out at least 2 routes between your apt and where the truck could park
- always view the unit before signing the lease
- kitchens must have room for dishes, cups, pans, and food
- my stuff indicates i need to downsize or always rent larger units
- no more coke after 7pm because it keeps me up

what of thy life?

1. i am moving to a new apartment this week, and a bit more stressed than i thought i'd be. sad
2. my background noise while packing has been continuous episodes of animaniacs. i owe a lot of my childhood to that show, and it's still entertaining as an adult. teehee
3. this move highlights how segmented my social life is here
4. a small set of new pics up - spring and beginning of summer set
5. i really want to hike more - wallace falls was awesome!
6. my joints are very unhappy right now. so is my waistline
7. mangos are back at the market. yuuuuuummmmmm
8. i want to send off a floating paper lantern again
9. everyone at work has a puppy now... sigh
10. my bromeliad has grown several pups that need adoption soon

my 10 thoughts...

1. i am ridiculously hooked on asian dramas right now. sparks superbly bad couch potato habits out of me, like super late nights...
2. random trip to portland was nice. interestingly, i felt more relaxed because i had no internet access in the hotel
3. rentals are lame. if i stayed at my current place, my rent would increase $210. but as a new tenant it's only a $65 increase. wtf
4. so anyway... new apartment lease in june! time to start packing
5. watched a live chinese yo-yo performance, then realized it's been 7 years since i've performed on stage. geez, how time flies...
6. lately i feel more and more out of place
7. playing in a kickball league is a nice change of pace and quite fun, despite our team losing every game... miserably

10. daylight until 9:30pm is messing up my sense of time... gah

super long overdue post

wow it's been a long time.
1. big photo update. some additions to 2012 beginnings, then spring and mom's visit photos
2. regarding my mom's visit... it was a fine time. lots of good food, lots of neat places, all packed into 4 days. plus, the most expensive meal i have ever paid for - alaskan king crab for 2. nom nom nom...
3. lately i have not been making good use of my time. being a big hermit, which leaves my activeness and social life behind
4. that said though, i am doing more variety of activities like rock climbing, scavenger hunts, kickball... hoping to add yoga and swimming back into the mix
5. apparently, i am very hard to impress now
6. why am i too stubborn to listen to my mother's health advice?
7. watching game of thrones helps solidify the characters from the books into my brain
8. lately i have been thinking a lot about finding my voice, be it at work, in social situations, or listening to my own... what am i doing here and now, and why?

an overdue post

Hi! It's been a while.
1. austin visit was great - lots of food (as always) and pretty end of march blooms
2. emerald city comic-con was also way more fun than i expected
3. i <3 voice actors - they redubbed star wars and various movie scenes for two nights of hilarity and joy. also they showed off nations of the world (animaniacs), pinky and the brain, and wakkorotti goodness
4. aaand my camera is finally showing its age in the pictures it takes... fine. i'll go get a new one...
5. farewell britannica. i will never forget the elegance you gave to our bookshelves at home
6. the blooming cherry blossoms are a nice hint of spring
7. aah yes. app games, you are draining my time. this is why i avoided you for so long...
